It's the first thing visitors see when they land on your site.
Your hero image.
This big (or small) banner image is generally placed front and center of your website. Getting this crucial image right can mean the difference between someone staying on your site, or bouncing off.

How to choose the right hero image
Impact is what you are going for here. Choose something that relates to what your site or business is about. Because the last thing you want to do is confuse your visitor. Photographs are typically the go-to for hero images. They grab people's attention and draw them into the rest of your site.

Tip:
Use a pop of color for your call-to-action button as you can see in this eastcamp design hero image example. The turquoise color jumps out leading the visitor to know exactly where to go to get started.
